SAT is a standardized paper-based test that is an admissions requirement for most undergraduate programs of colleges in US and Singapore. It is administered by the College Board and assesses high school learning and college preparedness of the student. As it is an international examination, SAT test preparation classes are recommended to students for securing better results. SAT has the following components: Reading test, Writing and Language test, Math and Essay (optional). The exam is scored on a scale of 400 to 1600. The scores are available 3 weeks after the exam date.

SAT score is valid for 5 years from the date the test was taken.

You can send your scores to 4 universities for free. You have to choose these 4 names at the time of registering for the SAT up until 7 days after your SAT. If you want to send your scores to more universities, you may order Additional Score Reports to be sent to schools for a fee of USD 11.25 per university.

While sending Additional Score Reports to universities, you can choose the scores that you want the universities to receive.

The SAT is just one factor among many that colleges use to get to know you better. The selection criteria also takes into account your high school academics, extracurricular activities, recommendations, personal essay and other factors. Each university has a different mix of above factors. In addition to the general SAT, a few top universities in the US also require SAT Subject tests.
